- May Day Evening Gig Cantaloops mission is to provide "Super-Fried-Deep-Filled-Funk" to the masses and is fronted by the hip-hop/funk attack of Dannie Dee with the pioneers of "Nufunk" 100C on guitar, The Leaker on bass, and Beef on drums fleshed out with additional players either (sax or trumpet) and special guests. In 2005, the band completed a tour of 25 dates in Switzerland and Europe. The band also performed an unstoppable amount of shows in the UK (their home territory).
with Gavin Monaghan (Editors, Nizlopi). The band recently circulated a coveted few white label remixes featuring their stellar track "Real Thing" remixed by Fun Lovin Criminals. Also look out for their signature live tune "Propa"
Magazine Acclaim: Live stands out from the crowd. Well worth checking out Midlanders six piece, with the blend of funk, rap and R&B. Theres something for many on this their second LP - recorded at gigs in London and that noted capital of funk Perranporth. Its often party-centric stuff, but thats sometimes all you need! - Angus Batey, Mojo. Cantaloops fusion of funk and hip-hop pitches itself in a territory bounded by the free form jams of Phish and the social awareness of The Specials, tinged with the spacious blues of Eric Bibb and the dive bombing rap n scratch of Senser. Live, recorded live (obviously), shows that their hearts are closer to funk than either jazz or straightforward rock, though they manage to combine all three with aplomb - Fela Lewis, Logo. Cantaloops debut [Resensitize] hits you with immediate effect. The optimistic atmosphere of this album will make you feel good for no particular reason at all and any band that can do that has to get bigged up. - Russell Myrie, Blues and Soul. Cantaloops Resensitize takes hip-hop to fresh modern extremes, distinguishing itself from the stale and altogether mundane music we have come to expect in the wake of Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Doggy Dog. - Colm Farry, MMII Observer UCD. Sounds like the funky underground Volume 2. - 7 Magazine A storming soundtrack to sweaty dance floor action or a pass the rizla chillout session, this is the perfect solution to super club overkill. - Best of British, British Phonographic Industry/Virgin Mega stores USA. Accolades from Fans: Saw you in Holland! In the Hague on Monday and then again in Paradiso on Thursday. You guys are awesome and I sure wish you will play the Dutch stages again soon!
